One-year-old dresses up as Queen Elizabeth II – Panorama

A cup of Earl Gray, scratching corgis, listening to the news on BBC, doing crosswords in the Daily Telegraph solve, then skim through fan mail, finally sign the government papers from the small red suitcase – this could be a working day for the Queen at Buckingham Palace. On one of these days, however, the monarch paused when she came across a photo of a miniature queen in her post.

One-year-old Jalayne Sutherland from Ohio appears in a special Halloween costume: with a light blue coat, shrunk to size 80/86, a matching hat over a white hair wig, a mini handbag and a pearl necklace, the girl poses between two corgis. Also on Facebook the mini-queen can be seen, and on a video the little one stumbles towards the camera as if she had just geezed the 6 p.m. gin and tonic.

Now Queen Elizabeth is quite a popular motif for Halloween, even celebrities like Chrissy Teigen have already tried it – no comment from the royal family. But the image of the 94 years younger doubles probably touched the queen as well. Yes, you can say that the Queen was, within the limits of her possibilities, extremely amused. And so she had Jalayne’s mother answer through her lady-in-waiting Mary Morrison: “Your Majesty thought it was nice that you wrote to her, she was delighted to see the photo of your daughter in her splendid outfit”.

Perhaps something else pleased her: In the photo, the corgis that reach tiny Jalayne’s belly look as stately as two ponies – so the Queen’s favorite dogs once made it big.
