One year after the Legoland accident: investigations into several people – Bavaria

Almost a year after the roller coaster accident with more than 30 injuries in the Legoland amusement park, several people are being investigated. A spokesman for the Memmingen public prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday that an expert report had raised the suspicion that the accident was caused by a lack of care. Several suspects are being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. At first she had Augsburg General reported about it.

On August 11, 2022, a train from the “Feuerdrache” roller coaster drove into a train in front of it in the Swabian amusement park. 31 people were injured, one seriously. The roller coaster was then out of service for the investigations and other work for a long time, but was released again after two months.

The spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office did not want to give any information about the exact number of suspects. In addition, he left open whether these were employees of the park itself or external persons responsible, for example inspectors of the roller coaster. Even if the investigations are now pointing in the direction of human error, the spokesman did not want to completely rule out technical defects on the roller coaster. It is still unclear how long the further investigations will take.
