The accident happened Thursday evening, shortly before 9 p.m. Several soldiers who were taking part in an exercise in Puget-sur-Argens (Var), were hit by a train. One of them died and two others were slightly injured, learned 20 minutes from consistent sources.
The victims were part of “a group that was carrying out a summary exercise as part of basic general training” and the death occurred while these soldiers were crossing “a railway track, at the time of the passage of a train”, specifies the communication of the Army. An investigation is open to determine the exact causes of this accident.
A crisis unit opened by the town hall
According to our information, the victims could have come from the Tarbes region. On the spot Thursday evening, the public prosecutor of Draguignan was withdrawn and the case is now in the hands of the Marseille prosecutor’s office.
The fire brigade, the gendarmerie as well as the railway police were at the scene of the accident Thursday evening. According Var-Morninga crisis unit was also opened by the town hall of Puget-sur-Argens.
