Praise can hardly come from a higher place in Hollywood: veteran director Steven Spielberg raves about “Dune 2”.

Three-time Oscar winner Steven Spielberg (77) is full of praise for Denis Villeneuve’s (56) sci-fi blockbuster “Dune: Part Two”. In the latest episode During the podcast “The Director’s Cut” from the US director’s guild “Directors Guild of America”, Spielberg and exceptional director Villeneuve talked about the Canadian filmmaker’s “Dune” sequel. During the conversation, the “Indiana Jones” director said to Villeneuve: “You’ve made one of the most brilliant science fiction films I’ve ever seen.”

On a par with Stanley Kubrick and George Lucas

Spielberg, who himself left his mark on the sci-fi genre with works such as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, “ET – The Extra-Terrestrial” and “Minority Report”, became enthusiastic about “Dune 1 and” during the podcast conversation 2″ director Villeneuve no longer comes out. He called his 56-year-old colleague a filmmaker who would “create worlds” – and according to Spielberg, there aren’t many of that kind.

He further praised “Dune: Part Two”: “You film the desert so that it resembles an ocean, a sea. The sandworms were like sea snakes. And the scene where the sandworms are ridden is one of the best things, I’ve ever seen. Ever! You made the desert look like liquid.”

“Dune: Part Two” has grossed almost $580 million at the global box office so far. Director Villeneuve is also said to be planning a third part. However, the conclusion of the trilogy has not yet been officially confirmed by the film studio Warner Bros.
