On the 80th birthday of the artist Rebecca Horn – Culture

Art is “anarchy” for her, says Rebecca Horn. This is a somewhat surprising confession for an artist whose work seems to contradict all common notions of anarchy. The kinetic installations for which Horn is world-famous show a precise order of precision, repetition and calm. Metal “rhinoceros teeth” at the end of two large semicircles move slowly towards each other until the circle is closed and they produce lightning when they touch. A large stone splits in half along a perfectly straight line, revealing a glass object inside. White peacock feathers are controlled by a mechanical clockwork so that they repeatedly form a fanned wheel.
