Omari furious with the Parisians (and Mbappé?) after the final whistle

Warmed Omari, Stade Rennais defender, appeared very upset against Parisian players after the Coupe de France semi-final lost (1-0) against PSG. It took a long time for his teammates to calm him down.

Tension reigned on the lawn of the Parc des Princes after PSG’s victory against Rennes (1-0) on Wednesday in the semi-final of the Coupe de France. Warmed Omari, Rennes defender, appeared beside himself as players from both camps greeted each other. The player seemed to be particularly angry with Kylian Mbappé with whom he had clashed a bit during the meeting. Several Parisians (Marquinhos, Hernandez, Kolo Muani) intervened against the Breton who took time before calming down.

“A little nervous”

Rennes substitute Jeanuël Belocian pulled him out of the fray by holding him firmly, but Omari broke away from the embrace to return towards his opponents, being followed very closely by his partners and certain members of the staff visibly worried about a potential slippage. Arthur Théate accompanied him to the locker room corridor where the situation remained tense.

Asked about the reasons for his player’s anger, Julien Stéphan, Rennes coach, admits not having understood everything. “I didn’t see anything,” he confided to beIN Sports. I don’t know what happened. There was a little nervousness, we’re going to calm it down, there was certainly a little bit of frustration.”

On the pitch, Omari had a complicated evening against Kylian Mbappé. Deposed on a first action (completed by a strike on the bar of Mbappé, 12th), the Rennes defender then conceded a penalty for having retained the jersey of the 2018 world champion in the area. An error of no consequence since the Parisian’s strike was repelled by Mandanda (37th). But a few minutes later, Omari, still overtaken by the Parisian attacker, countered his shot which caught his goalkeeper on the wrong foot (40th). For the only goal of the match, which sends Paris to the final against Lyon, on May 25 in Lille.
