Olympique Lyonnais wins against Dynamo kyiv (3-0) after losing the first match of the evening

Contrasting evening for OL and no doubt enriching for Peter Bosz. After their first successful preparation match against Bourg-en-Bresse, won 4-2 last Saturday, Peter Bosz’s men played two games against Dynamo kyiv, at the Pierre-Rajon stadium in Bourgoin-Jailleu.

For the first of the two meetings, the Dutch coach of OL had lined up a second team where only Paqueta acted as a potential starter for the start of the championship in August. And for this match, which started at 6 p.m., the obstacle was too high for OL. Faced with an opponent cut out for his upcoming European deadline, his upcoming C1 preliminary round against Fenerbahçe, Peter Bosz’s men were forced to return to the locker room a goal behind at the break and failed to overthrow the game in the second period (3-1).

With a second team and against a formation eager to be competitive after a championship interrupted last February following the war in Ukraine, OL had to concede defeat against dominating visitors. Quickly dangerous on attempts by Bradley Barcola (3rd) or Lucas Paquetá (9th, 17th, 56th), the Rhodaniens were gradually surprised by rapid attacks. Holder in the Lyon goal, Rémy Riou missed in his exit by mowing down Vladyslav Supryaha. Fortunately for the locals, Vladyslav Vanat found the post on the penalty spot in favor of his team (20th).

El Arouch main thinned out in defeat

A free warning therefore, but the real sanction did not take long to arrive. On a slightly too lax ball coverage from Cenk Ozkaçar, captain Denys Garmash manages to recover the ball and overtake the Turkish central defender before fixing Riou. Alone against the empty goal, Denys Antyukh opened the scoring (27th, 0-1). Without an offside from Vanat (32nd) and a double save from Riou (41st), the addition could even have been heavier at the break.

But it was finally at the start of the second period that Dynamo doubled the lead on a curling strike from Supryaha (57th, 0-2). Back to the wall, OL found some resources to react thanks to their new nugget Mohamed El Arouch. Served back by an uninspired Tino Kadewere so far, the Gone found the fault with a straight shot from the right foot at the near post (60th, 1-2).

Subsequently, a series of changes initiated by Peter Bosz allowed Kayne Bonnevie to experience a baptism of fire on Berjallian soil. A few minutes later, the substitute goalkeeper captured Supryaha’s shot to avoid another break (68th). A waste of time: the goalkeeper could not do anything about the pivot shot of young Nazar Voloshyn to kill the suspense in the meeting (86th, 1-3).

A much more exciting starting team and dazzling young people

In the second meeting of the evening in a stadium more accustomed to the oval ball, Peter Bosz had aligned what could look like a typical team. Alexandre Lacazette was once again a starter in the center of the attack, alongside the Brazilian Tetê and Karl Toko-Ekambi, evening captain. In the middle of the field, in the absence of Caqueret and Tolisso injured, Romain Faivre, Jeff Reine-Adelaïde and Johann Lepenant were lined up. The defense was composed of Malo Gusto – Thiago Mendes – Castello Lukeba and Henrique while Anthony Lopes kept the Lyon cage.

A composition that allowed Lacazette’s teammates to win 3-0 against the Ukrainians. The young Lukeba opened the scoring with a header from a corner on the way back from the locker room, before Peter Bosz changed his entire eleven after 66 minutes of play. The opportunity, for just under 30 minutes to discover the new faces of the Lyon formation. Philippe Boueye, with a heavy strike from thirty meters, doubled the bet before Sekou Lega concluded a splendid action which should turn on social networks for a while.

Three weeks away from returning to Ligue 1 against Ajaccio, and while OL will face Anderlecht, Willem-II, Feyenoord and Inter Milan for the rest of their preparation, Peter Bosz and his men will be able to rely on this great victory to prepare the rest of their month of July.
