The cult series “OC, California” is celebrating its 20th birthday. The former actors celebrated this with humorous posts on Instagram.

“OC, California”, in the original “The OC”, is considered one of the most successful US television series of the dawning 21st century. For many of the then very young actors such as Olivia Wilde (39), Ben McKenzie (44), Rachel Bilson (41) or Mischa Barton (37) was her big breakthrough as an actor with her roles in the teen series that started on August 5, 2003. For the 20th anniversary of the start of the series, she celebrated the old days again on Instagram.

Mourning for past coolness

Leading actor Ben McKenzie posted a scene photo on the occasion of the anniversary of himself and his ex-series colleague Adam Brody (43) and commented on it with the words: “20 years ago today ‘The OC’ premiered. I keep showing my kids pictures to prove how cool I used to be, but for some reason they don’t seem to get it.”

His former colleague Olivia Wilde, who now also works as a director, also reminisced about the past and posted a photo of himself and series colleague Mischa Barton in an Instagram story, commenting with “Mischa = One of the most beautiful faces I have seen I’ve ever seen. I remember just going, ‘whoooaaaaa’.” Rachel Bilson was rather brief and simply commented on a series photo of himself with “Twenty”. Julie Cooper actress Melinda Clarke (54) also posted two images from the series and explained: “Wait, what?! How old are we?” She also added the hashtag #foreveryoung (“forever young”).

“Yes, I feel old”

And Josh Schwartz (47), creator and executive producer of the series, took the opportunity to commemorate the series’ birthday with an Instagram story. Alongside a series photo, he wrote: “Yes, I feel old. Thank you.”
