Older women, younger men: a survey of love literature – culture

from

Marie Schmidt

It is a charming detail that when Annie Ernaux finally won the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 82, she had just published this book. Not a major work, more of a note about a love of decades ago. The little book was on everyone’s lips last autumn, and if you still look excitedly at the translation that is now appearing, it’s because the book design of the German edition by Suhrkamp is equal to the content in terms of sober precision.
