Katerina Jacob is full of praise for the series “Anna and her lodger”. On other film sets, she was annoyed by everyone who called themselves actors these days.

The actress Katerina Jacob often gets annoyed when she meets influencers, models and other career changers on set.

“I deal with people who can’t say a straight sentence,” said the 65-year-old (“Polizeiruf 110”), referring to some of her filming experiences. “I have to say: ‘What did you just say?’ They mumble to themselves, but they have a self-confidence that makes me think: ‘Wow, brilliant.’ That’s one reason why I don’t really value this job as much anymore , everything has changed so much.”

You have to learn this profession, emphasized Jacob, who lives in Canada and near Starnberg, in an interview with the dpa. “How can it be that a format like the “Dream Ship” is stomped into the ground like this? Its inventor Wolfgang Rademann is spinning endlessly in his grave. It used to be the crème de la crème of German drama. And now it’s influencers and presenters and models. Just because you want to get ratings. And it doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t do anything.”

“If you want to become an actor, you go to an acting school so that you can later do theater. When television comes along, it’s okay. But now it’s like this: A top model says: “I’m an actress too. What? How? Where? Hello?” said the 65-year-old indignantly. Such “reality stars” are often particularly admired on the red carpet. “These people are taking jobs away from other people who have learned this. I don’t just stand up and say, “I’m a hairdresser now.” I can cut hair, but I don’t stand up and say “It’s me.” But these people imagine that they can be actors. That doesn’t work. That’s up to the producers who allow it.”

Jacob, however, was full of praise for her new film “Anna and Her Subtenant: When You Dream of Love” on Friday at 8:15 p.m. on the first. “This is already the third part that is running now.” It is an “old-ager comedy” and therefore a rarity in Germany. “Good roles for women over 50” are difficult to find in this country.
