Olaf Scholz in Neuruppin: The Chancellor roars until he is short of breath

At an event with citizens in Neuruppin, Olaf Scholz tried for an hour to explain his politics – against yelling protests. Many wanted to listen, hundreds did not.

Olaf Scholz has been yelling into the microphone for almost 16 minutes. Now the respiratory system is taking its toll. A gasp that briefly sounds as if the chancellor was choking, a cough, then it’s fine again. Soon after, Scholz has finished his opening speech and briefly wipes the sweat from his forehead. It’s a tiring evening here in Neuruppin, the noise is infernal. If this continues elsewhere in the next few weeks, the chancellor will face an unpleasant fall politically – and not just him.
