After the helicopter crash in Ukraine, President Zelenskyj asked for a minute’s silence for the dead during his speech in Davos. And he called for battle tanks – a request that Chancellor Scholz had previously ignored in his own speech.
While Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov drew attention to himself with particularly crude statements and Nazi comparisons on Wednesday, people in Ukraine are mourning the 14 deaths caused by a crashed helicopter. It is particularly tragic that the helicopter crashed next to a kindergarten in Kyiv, which is why children are among the dead. And: the Ukrainian Interior Minister Dennis Monastirskyj and his deputy Jehwhenij Jenin. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy not only loses the leadership of an entire ministry, but also a popular politician. “We found the Interior Minister to be very friendly and extremely capable,” RTL/n-tv reporter Jürgen Weichert describes the 42-year-old Interior Minister in the “Today Important” podcast. “Ukraine will really miss him.” The cause of the helicopter crash is still unclear.
Olaf Scholz has remained true to himself in Davos
