Oberschleißheim – burglars crack ATMs – district of Munich

Unknown persons broke into an ATM in the Hit supermarket on Mittenheimer Strasse in Oberschleißheim on Friday night and stole around 100,000 euros in cash. However, they might have trouble spending the money. The violent break-in triggered a security mechanism on the Postbank machine and the notes were colored red. The perpetrators may also have paint on their hands. According to the police, these had entered the market outside of business hours via the toilets, where they had probably previously let themselves be locked up. They worked on the machine near the checkout area with tools and emptied the cash cassettes there before fleeing through a window. The act was only noticed when a 30-year-old employee of the market came to her workplace at around 6.30 a.m. on Friday morning. The police are asking witnesses who have observed anything suspicious in the Mittenheimer Straße and Oberschleißheim train station area to report.
