Hardly any former Formula 1 driver is currently the subject of as much speculation as four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. Will he soon be celebrating his comeback in the premier motorsport class? If yes, for which team? Will he sit in the cockpit or take on another role?
Questions upon questions that fans have been asking themselves for months. The rumors about a possible return continue. But now there is a turnaround around Vettel in Formula 1. The statements from many experts make you sit up and take notice.
Formula 1: turnaround for Sebastian Vettel?
It should be a fantastic comeback in Formula 1. Sebastian Vettel is interested in getting into a racing car again. That’s what it’s been said again and again in the past few weeks and months. After all, there are currently a number of cockpits available for 2025. But things will also be interesting from 2026 when Audi enters the premier motorsport class. Then surely something should be free for Vettel, right?

He was also probably under discussion at Red Bull, his former team with whom he celebrated four world championships. However, his former sponsor Helmut Marko has already rejected the German. The Austrian first gave many Vettel fans hopes of a comeback with another statement, but then immediately destroyed them again.
“I think he wants it if he sees the chance to get a top car somewhere. Then he’s ready for it,” Marko said on “Sky” on the sidelines of the Chinese Grand Prix. However, he also sees a big problem for Vettel here: “He’s been away from the window for, well, a year. And there aren’t that many top seats anymore.”

Nico Rosberg sees it similarly. The 2016 Formula 1 world champion sees Vettel’s personnel as follows. “The problem with Sebastian is the last year at Aston Martin. Yes, he had a bad car. But the distance to Stroll wasn’t as dominant as it is now with Alonso,” said Rosberg on “Sky”.
The German sees it similarly to Helmut Marko, “that there are a few question marks. If Sebastian comes back after a two-year break, will he still be as fast as he was in his heyday?” Rosberg has his concerns: “Two years off, that’s a very, very long time. Then you probably don’t really know where you stand when it comes to performance.”
