According to initial findings, several shots were fired and two men were seriously injured. Both were taken to a hospital, where one of the injured later died. The homicide commission has started investigating the background to the incident.

The police in Central Franconia had announced on Twitter in the evening that there was a larger police operation with numerous emergency services due to an attempted homicide. The area should be avoided, it said.

It was later reported that a firearm was found at the scene. It was still unclear whether this was the murder weapon and was the subject of further investigations. Police are appealing for anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.
