A 25-year-old was traveling in Nuremberg with an airsoft gun open in his waistband. A 22-year-old noticed this on a tram, alerted the officers and discreetly followed the man to the main train station, as the federal police announced on Tuesday. Federal and state police forces were already waiting there. He was arrested and the airsoft pistol was confiscated. No one was injured or threatened in Monday’s incident.
Possessing such a “pretend weapon” is not prohibited, but you are not allowed to carry it with you in public spaces, a federal police spokeswoman said on Tuesday. Even if they don’t fire ammunition in the traditional sense, people could be injured, it said. An investigation was initiated against the 25-year-old for violating the weapons law.
