She was actually supposed to appear on “Late Night Berlin” on Tuesday. But after a controversial Instagram posting, rapper Nura was disinvited from the ProSieben show.

“Periodt”, Nura’s new album, was released last Friday. In order to promote this, the rapper actually wanted to appear on Tuesday at “Late Night Berlin”. The plan was for the 34-year-old to perform her new single on the show moderated by Klaas Heufer-Umlauf. “Late Night Berlin” itself announced this on X (formerly Twitter). The musician posted an excerpt from her new video in an Insta story on Sunday evening, in which she posed with other people in front of a basketball hoop with “Free Palestine” written on it. Numerous users called on ProSieben on X (formerly Twitter) to uninvite Nura. The broadcaster has apparently complied with this.

Nura herself commented on the excitement on Instagram on Monday afternoon: She published a text in her Insta story in which she emphasized that she made no distinction between people, based on their gender, origin, sexuality or religion. “Suffering is suffering.”

Her own family was after war She fled Germany, so she knew how traumatizing that was. The video, Nura emphasized, was “made before the current events.” She is still sorry if she “hurt someone who was affected by it.”

In fact, the image still available on her Insta story is from her new video “FUBU.” In it, Nura, supported by Yung Madara, Aisha Vibes and Jalil, addresses the racism experience of black people in Germany. The song uses a sample from Martin Luther King’s famous “I have a Dream” speech. The controversial photo can be seen in the video for less than two seconds.

Nura was born in Kuwait in 1988, she came to Germany with her family at the age of three and has lived in Berlin for a long time. The musician did not provide any information as to why she posted this scene in her story.
