Following a major solar storm which hit the Earth on Friday evening, northern lights were expected in places usually little affected such as the north of France and in particular Brittany.
Many amateurs made no mistake and took advantage of the clear sky to take out their camera and take magnificent photos of this impressive meteorological phenomenon. “I saw information announcing that there could be northern lights possibly visible in Brittany this weekend. Then, around 11 p.m., as I was getting ready to go to bed for work tomorrow, I started seeing photos of the Northern Lights on Facebook, says one of our readers Gildas Duval. I went out and saw the curtains of light I couldn’t believe my eyes! I called my partner and my friends to come see the show, then I took the car to approach the coast and admire the magnificent spectacle.
Note that the phenomenon should persist throughout this weekend for those who missed the boat!

This solar storm should, in addition, have other impacts. Disturbances could affect high voltage lines but not a priori affect individuals. GPS signals can also malfunction.
