Storm: Woman dies in pile-up on A31

Late on Friday evening there was a mass collision on car 31 during a storm with hailstorms in Münsterland. 14 vehicles were involved. A woman died.
A 53 year old woman is with one Mass collision on the A31 near Borken with a total of 14 vehicles involved killed. According to police, a 19-year-old and a 43-year-old man were taken to hospital late on Friday evening with some serious injuries. The cause of the accident was a storm with hailstorms.
13 cars and a truck were involved in the collision. The 53-year-old wanted to leave her car after the accident in the area of the Borken motorway junction, but she was hit by another of the vehicles involved. She died from her serious injuries at the scene of the accident. 21 other people affected by the accident were taken by the fire department to the nearby town of Heiden and cared for there.
The motorway was closed in the direction of Emden for the investigation by an accident investigation team and an assessment by experts. The closure was expected to last until Saturday afternoon around 12 p.m. The “Borkener Zeitung” had previously reported on the accident.
