Diggins and Amundsen are winners in the overall cross-country skiing World Cup

For the second time after 2021, the American Jessie Diggins crowned her cross-country skiing winter with victory in the overall World Cup. Team boss Schlickenrieder praises a German for her consistency this winter.
The American Jessie Diggins and the Norwegian Harald Oestberg Amundsen won the overall cross-country skiing World Cup. The 32-year-old prevailed in the final race of the winter over 20 kilometers in the free technique and significantly increased her lead over the Swede Linn Svahn (26th).
“You can’t rate that highly enough.”
With 2,746 points, the American finished the season ahead of Svahn (2,571), her teammate Frida Karlsson (2,309) and the German Olympic champion Victoria Carl, who scored 2,114 points and came fourth. “That’s really impressive. Nobody would have guessed that. You can’t rate that highly enough,” said team boss Peter Schlickenrieder about his strongest athlete.
In the daily ranking, the German athletes had nothing to do with the podium. Carl took seventh place, Pia Fink (21st) and Katharina Hennig (22nd) fell further back. Schlickenrieder was satisfied with the team’s unity this winter. “We wanted to create a broad base on which we could build,” said the former professional athlete, who took over the German cross-country skiing team in 2018.
Among the men, Friedrich Moch was the best German over the 20 kilometers. He finished ninth and finished 8.5 seconds behind winner Klaebo. In the overall World Cup it was enough for sixth place behind five Norwegians.
