Nockherberg: Gerhard Wittmann in the SZ podcast “Munich Personal” about his role – Munich

The role of the mayor of Munich is set in the Singspiel on the Nockherberg. It is not a supporting one like that of Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (played again this year by Thomas Unger) or Hubert Aiwanger (Stefan Murr) and Olaf Scholz (Nikola Norgauer). But as the head of the city and a member of the SPD, the traditional Derblecken to tap strong beer is unimaginable without the town hall boss.

Gerhard Wittmann has been on the Nockherberg stage as Dieter Reiter’s actor since 2015. Growing up in the Aichach district, but having lived in Munich for many years, he can speak like Reiter without pretending. This year is about “nightmares” and the mayor is not immune to them. In the podcast, Wittmann talks about the atmosphere in the Singspiel team and the collaboration with the authors Stefan Betz and Richard Oehmann. He also talks about how it feels to criticize politicians and to stand sober on stage while the audience is drinking strong beer.

It’s also about Wittmann’s role as Leopold Eberhofer, Franz’s good brother in the successful regional crime series, and how he became an actor against his father’s wishes. He also reveals where he will be on stage again soon.

For the Munich editorial podcast, Ulrike Heidenreich and René Hofmann, the heads of the Munich, Region and Bavaria department as well as people editor Sabine Buchwald and social editor Jana Jöbstl meet alternately with different guests. They pick you up at your place of residence or work, or they arrange to meet at special places in the city for a conversation.

It’s about current projects and very personal plans, about topics that move the city. The SZ podcast team invites people who have a connection to Munich. You live in the city or are visiting. They come from the areas of politics, gastronomy, culture, sport or media.
