King Charles III wants to visit cancer center

The British royal family made Charles’ cancer public in February. Now he wants to appear in public again. At the start he is setting a symbolic date.
Around three months after his cancer diagnosis was announced, Great Britain wants to King Charles III attend public appointments again. He is scheduled to visit a cancer center today with his wife Queen Camilla, the palace announced.
The two are supposed to meet patients and medical specialists there. “The visit will be the first in a series of external appointments that His Majesty will undertake in the coming weeks,” it said.
The British royal family made it public at the beginning of February that Charles was suffering from cancer. The 75-year-old had previously been treated in hospital for an enlarged prostate. It is not known what type of cancer Charles has and how he is being treated. But it shouldn’t be prostate cancer.
Two cancer diagnoses in a short space of time
On the advice of his doctors, Charles initially did not attend any major public appointments, but continued with state affairs. He held regular audiences with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and, for example, received war veterans at Buckingham Palace. Charles was also photographed on the way to church in Sandringham, eastern England, and at the Easter service in Windsor.
His daughter-in-law Princess Kate is also being treated for a cancer diagnosis. The 42-year-old underwent abdominal surgery at the beginning of the year. It was then discovered that there was cancer, Kate said in a video message in March. She is receiving chemotherapy as a precaution. It is not known when the wife of heir to the throne Prince William will return to the public eye. She asked for privacy.
Charles, on the other hand, should now attend public appointments again. It is not known how long his treatment will continue, but the progress so far is “very encouraging” and the doctors are positive, a palace spokesman said.
Charles has been British monarch since September 2022. Almost a year ago, on May 6, 2023, his accession to the throne was also celebrated with a lavish coronation in London. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in September 2022 at the age of 96.
