In Ruhpolding, winter sports enthusiasts enjoy the last remnants of artificial snow. The slopes for the traditional Biathlon World Cup have to be prepared with stored snow from last year.

Because it is so warm, there are hardly any ski lifts in Bavaria, and winter sports tourists go hiking in many places instead of on the slopes. Can the season still be saved?

“Passable without hindrance” is written on the Sudelfeld-Bergbahnen homepage. However, this only applies to the Sudelfeldstraße, which meanders up to 1123 meters through the Mangfall Mountains in the district of Miesbach. On the other hand, in the self-declared “ski paradise Sudelfeld”, which stretches from that road up to 1563 meters above sea level, zero of the 27 pistes are open on Monday, not to mention the three valley runs.
