No more combustion engines: BMW is converting its main plant in Munich for a fully electric future – Munich

A robot grabs one of the 600 kilogram high-voltage batteries that BMW produces in Dingolfing and places it on a conveyor belt. In vehicle assembly in Munich, a car body floats down from the upper floor. Another robot quickly screws the battery to the underbody of the BMW i4. The car is almost finished. These are the final steps of a 30-hour journey through the main factory in Munich – that’s about how long it takes to produce a car. Around 1,000 BMWs roll off the assembly line every day at this more than 100-year-old factory in the north of Munich, right next to the Olympic Park.
