No injuries after the derailment of a freight train

A freight train derailed this Thursday morning in the Landes on the Bordeaux-Irun line, blocking traffic without causing any victims, announced the prefecture. The two locomotives which were carrying this freight convoy, mainly carrying steel, derailed, causing two wagons, near Laluque, between Dax and Morcenx.

A diesel fuel leak from a locomotive caused a rapidly extinguished fire to start, with no trace of damage to the environment, specifies the Landes prefecture. The cleaning is in progress. This incident led to the stopping of passenger trains at Dax and Morcenx stations. SNCF has set up shuttles.

Train traffic is completely interrupted “until the end of the service” and the operations could “involve a cut-off of traffic until Friday,” adds the prefecture. TGVs from Paris are stopped in Bordeaux. TERs only run as far as Dax. SNCF recommends that users postpone their trip.
