Nio ET5: Tesla competitor presents new model with mega-range

With Nio, a new car manufacturer will hit the German market in 2022. The electrical pioneer from China has an exciting new model to offer German customers, because the Nio ET5 offers enormous ranges.

Nio ET5: range of up to 1,000 kilometers

As standard, the Nio ET5 only has a 75 kWh battery on board and can travel up to 550 kilometers (according to the “China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle”, CLTC). Larger batteries with up to 150 kilowatt hours are also available for an additional charge. In this case, the ET5 should then achieve a proud 1,000 kilometers range. The average 100 kWh energy storage should still offer a range of 700 kilometers.

In addition to its mega-range, the ET5 also scores with its optics: the mid-range sedan from the Chinese manufacturer has a coupé-like design and looks modern, sporty and independent even when it is stationary.

ET5: It goes to 100 in 4.3 seconds

The sporty appearance is also reflected in the performance: the all-wheel drive of the ET5 consists of a 150 kW / 204 hp induction asynchronous motor at the front and a 210 kW / 286 hp permanent magnet motor at the rear, resulting in a system output of 360 kW / 489 HP and a torque of 700 Nm.

The ET5 thus completes the standard sprint from zero to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds. Since the ET5 also contains the genes of the EP9 sports car, the high-performance brakes developed by the Chinese themselves work so boldly that the electric sedan comes to a standstill from a speed of 100 km / h after 33.9 meters.

In the interior, the Nio’s modern infotainment system is particularly noticeable: accordingly, Nio has installed a digital cockpit with a panoramic view, in which the system projects a gigantic 201-inch virtual screen six meters in front of the driver. In general, the interior is very clean: a large touchscreen forms the infotainment command center and the driving information is displayed on a 10.2-inch screen behind the steering wheel.
