With “It” star Bill Skarsgård as the son of the film: Nicolas Cage again plays the arms dealer Yuri Orlov in “Lords of War”.

Nicolas Cage (59) becomes the “dealer of death” again. Loud “Variety” 18 years after “Lord of War”, the actor slips back into the role of the charismatic arms dealer Yuri Orlov. As with the first part in 2005, Andrew Niccol (58, “Gattaca”) will direct and write the screenplay.

The sequel will be called “Lords of War”. Because it will not only be about Cage’s Yuri Orlov, but also about his son. The arms dealer finds out that he has an illegitimate son named Anton. He works in the same business as his producer. Anton assembles a mercenary army in the Middle East. This creates conflicts with his father.

The actor for Anton has already been determined: Bill Skarsgård (32) is the chosen one. With his performance as the horror clown Pennywise in the Stephen King film “It”, the Swede has established himself as a gifted villain actor of the present. In addition to “Lords of War”, the son of actor Stellan Skarsgård (71) will soon be seen in remakes of “Nosferatu” (2022) and “The Crow” (1994).

“Lord of War – The Dealer of Death” was not a big box office hit in 2005, but in retrospect is considered one of the best films by Nicolas Cage in the last 20 years.

Incidentally, the character of Yuri Orlov was inspired by Viktor Anatolyevich But (56). The Russian arms dealer was released from American custody at the end of 2022 as part of a prisoner exchange for US basketball player Brittney Griner (32), who was imprisoned in Russia.
