Equalizer shortly before the end, then the winning goal in extra time: Leon Draisaitl scored two important goals to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

Leon Draisaitl shot the Edmonton Oilers to victory against the strong Boston Bruins in the NHL. The national ice hockey player from Cologne equalized the score at 2-1 after extra time shortly before the end of regular time and then also scored the winning goal for the Oilers.

“I think it’s just a sign of the maturity of our group. It’s always difficult to play in this hall. We persevered and were patient,” said Draisaitl, who now has 32 goals this season. “In the end it takes a shot, a move,” he added: “We have a lot of great players on our team.” It was the fifth win in a row for the Oilers.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks around Nico Sturm missed an unexpected break. The Californians lost in their own stadium against the clearly favored Dallas Stars 6:7 after overtime, although the Sharks had temporarily led 6:3. Sturm provided an assist, but could not prevent the eighth defeat in a row.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer was not used in the Seattle Kraken’s 4-3 win against the Winnipeg Jets.
