Neymar believes he and Messi ‘lived through hell’ at PSG

Neymar doesn’t seem unhappy to have left PSG. The player now even has very harsh words against his former employer. The Brazilian indeed claims that with his Argentinian teammate and friend Lionel Messi they “lived through hell” in the capital club which they both left at the end of last season.

The number 10 of the Brazilian selection left to join Saudi Arabia, first declared himself “very happy” that Messi, since June at Inter Miami in the United States, won the 2022 World Cup with the Argentina. But, he added in an interview broadcast on Sunday by the Brazilian television channel Globo, “he (Messi) has lived both sides of the coin”.

“We came together to write history”

“He went to heaven with Argentina, he won everything in recent years, and with Paris he went through hell, we went through hell, him and me,” said “Ney”, 31, six seasons in the Parisian jersey, five French championship titles but who has sometimes endured, like Messi, the boos of the public at the Parc des Princes.

“We got angry because we weren’t there for that, we were there to give the best of ourselves, to be champions, that’s why we came back to play together, we had come together to write history ”, justified Neymar who had already rubbed shoulders with Messi in Barcelona. “Unfortunately, we didn’t succeed,” he said.

Paris still in search of the Champions League

PSG, despite the sums invested by its Qatari owner and the salaries offered to Messi and Neymar, has still not fulfilled its stated objective of winning the Champions League.

Neymar who signed a two-year contract with Al-Hilal for a transfer of almost 100 million euros including bonuses, has been called up with Brazil for the first two games of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup , against Bolivia, on September 8 in Bélem, and Peru on September 12 in Lima.
