News | Fuel shortage: the prefect limits sales in the Hautes-Alpes

After Vaucluse or the Var and the department of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence this Monday evening, the prefecture of the Hautes-Alpes, took this Tuesday morning a decree limiting the distribution of fuel in the 44 service stations of the department.

“In order to allow the greatest number of motorists to refuel, and to avoid phenomena of preventive purchases, detrimental to the proper functioning of service stations, a prefectural decree imposes certain restrictions”explains the prefecture.

The sale and purchase of fuel (petrol, diesel, ethanol, LPG) are limited:
– 30 litres, with a minimum delivery of 5 liters for private vehicles with a GVW of less than 3.5 tonnes;
– 120 liters for vehicles with a GVW greater than 3.5 tonnes.

This limitation does not apply to public service or company vehicles carrying out a public service mission.

The sale and purchase of fuels (gasoline, diesel, ethanol, LPG) in manually transportable containers are prohibited (in particular jerry cans and cans) throughout the department. Retailers, managers and operators of service stations shall take the necessary measures to enforce these provisions and post the order on their pumps in order to inform users thereof.

These measures are applicable from Tuesday October 11 at 8 a.m. until Monday October 17 inclusive.

According to figures released on Monday morning by the Hautes-Alpes prefecture, 9 out of 44 service stations displayed “at least one fuel out of stock” in the department, mostly in Gap and Briançon. “There is no major problem in the department. Monday is an important supply day”like Wednesday and Friday, underlined Monday evening the prefecture which did not identify any incivility in the service stations of the department.
