News from the Haus der Kunst – Munich

Actually, it is popularly said: “May makes everything new”. In the Haus der Kunst, however, the motto is: “January makes everything new” – and a few changes are being made for the new year. For those who frequent the exhibition hall’s website, this is probably the first thing that catches your eye: the new visual identity developed by Haus der Kunst in collaboration with Bureau Borsche. It is intended to underline the orientation towards an intertwined program and to dialogue with the place itself – its form, its colors and tones. The new logo is based on the building’s pillars that bend and face each other. It is no coincidence that the symbol resembles a radio station emitting waves or a rainbow, a colorful symbol of peace and diversity. It stands for togetherness and encounters, which are decisive for the house and its program.

A change that visitors will quickly discover in the same way: Haus der Kunst says “Goodbye” to Free First Thursday and “Hello” to Open House. On January 5th there will be free entry on a Thursday evening for the last time. From January 27th onwards, every last Friday of the month it’s: “Open House – free in, fine out”. So that even more families can be there, the Open House will start at 4 p.m. and run as usual until 10 p.m. In addition, there is a new program for cultural education on the free admission day, which offers all visitors various offers for the exhibitions.

There is also a new annual ticket that goes with the new program: For 100 euros, “365 Live” offers free entry to the exhibitions, discursive events and guided tours as well as free entry to all performances and events in the Tune series. The first Tune event of the new year will take place on Friday, January 20th at 8pm. Alvin Curran is a guest with his performance “Shofar Rags XXXL”. If you only want to visit the exhibitions with the annual ticket, you can still get the annual ticket for 50 euros (partner tickets cost 90 euros). The map is also given a name to make it easier to distinguish it from the new “365 Live” and is now called “Haus der Kunst 365.
