The “Joker” story continues: In addition to Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga and Brendan Gleeson are reportedly also present in the sequel to the award-winning comic adaptation.

With the dark “Joker” film, director Todd Phillips had a cinema hit with Hollywood star Joaquin Phoenix in 2019. Now they continue their cooperation. “Day 1. Our boy,” Phillips posted on Instagram Saturday alongside a photo of Phoenix in his role as the emaciated Batman antagonist. Phillips used the hashtag #joker.

“Joker” starred Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian suffering from severe mental health issues and living on the fringes of Gotham City society.

The Warner Bros. studio had already announced plans for a sequel to the “Joker” comic film with a theatrical release in October 2024 last August. In addition to Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener will also play in “Joker: Folie à Deux”. Nothing has been officially announced about the content of the sequel.

The gritty original film grossed more than $1 billion worldwide in 2019. Phoenix won the Oscar for best actor, and the thriller won the Golden Lion for best film at the Venice Film Festival.
