If you believe RTL, a news format will start next Monday evening that has never existed before. Stephan Schmitter, managing director of RTL News, Lothar Keller, editor-in-chief of RTL Direkt, and presenter Jan Hofer are promoting it this Thursday at a digital press conference. RTL direct runs from Monday to Thursday at 10:15 pm, a “special broadcasting slot”, as Schmitter emphasizes. Maybe it just means that at the same time in the ARD Daily Topics kick off.
The concept is atypical for a news program, as talk elements with normal and celebrity guests should also appear. And something loosening up at the end. The first guest has already been determined: Hofer will welcome Annalena Baerbock, the Greens’ candidate for chancellor, to begin with. News, talk, and finally something relaxed – all in 20 minutes. RTL has big plans and broadcasts from Berlin. You want to broadcast live mainly, but you have to take into account the schedule of politicians, explains Keller. From autumn onwards, Pinar Atalay will be involved and will present the format in alternation with Hofer.
Just recently RTL has restructured its program and in the afternoon an additional edition of RTL news launched. with RTL direct the Cologne broadcaster continues to expand its news offensive.
