Former US President Donald Trump has failed to stop an investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James. A court in the state on Friday rejected a corresponding lawsuit by Trump.
James said it was once again clear that “Donald J. Trump’s baseless legal challenges cannot stop our lawful investigation into his financial dealings and those of the Trump Organization.” Trump filed a lawsuit in December, describing the investigation as unlawful.
James’ extensive investigations include the suspicion that Trump’s company misrepresented the value of its real estate in order to obtain loans or obtain price advantages. Trump had previously described the investigation as a “witch hunt”. Another New York court ruled Thursday that Trump must testify under oath in the investigation.
