The Crew: When computer games die – economics

Games used to run on CDs for almost decades. Since the data is on a server, manufacturers can turn off a game if it is no longer lucrative. Fans of the game “The Crew” are therefore arguing with the Ubisoft company.

Some computer games are doomed to death. When it comes to owning the games, appearances can be deceiving. Once you buy a game at full price, it belongs to the buyer – right? Not quite. What is purchased is not the product itself, but rather a right of use. The manufacturer can revoke this at any time. And manufacturers do that too.
