Attention “Pumuckl” lovers: The goblin will return to the screens with new stories for Christmas 2023.

Pumuckl” fans should mark Christmas 2023 twice as much in their calendars: RTL will show a total of 13 newly produced episodes of the cult children’s series in the afternoon program on free TV from December 25, 2023. As the broadcaster also announced, the children’s channel will also follow suit Toggo just a few days later: The new episodes will also be broadcast there at the end of the year from December 31, 2023. The episodes will also be offered in the app and on the web.

As was already known, “New Stories from Pumuckl” will start on December 11, 2023 in the broadcasting group’s paid streaming offer RTL+. Three of the new episodes were recently shown in selected cinemas, which even reached the top of the cinema charts, at least in Bavaria. 350,000 tickets for the new edition of the cult goblin were sold across Germany.

New “Pumuckl” series is very close to the original

In “New Stories from Pumuckl” the actor Florian Brückner (39) takes on the role of the nephew of the famous master Eder, originally played by Gustl Bayrhammer (1922-1993). The successful Bavarian filmmaker Marcus H. Rosenmüller (50) directed the film. Other roles include Frederic Linkemann (42), Milan Peschel (55) and Katharina Thalbach (69). The cabaret artist Maximilian Schafroth (38) gave “Pumuckl” his voice in the new edition, which was then converted into the unmistakable sound of the late Hans Clarin (1929-2005) using artificial intelligence.

The makers also tried to stay as close to the original as possible. The original Meister Eder workshop and the striking inner courtyard were recreated in detail in a studio. The original location in Munich was demolished after the original filming and could not be used again. The look of the Pumuckl is also almost unchanged from the original series from the 80s. A modern, computer-animated 3D representation of the goblin was deliberately avoided and Pumuckl was allowed to draw as originally.
