New “Star Wars” movie
Daisy Ridley will return as Rey
Daisy Ridley is set to return in her starring role as Rey in a Star Wars movie. Lucasfilm announced this in London on Friday.
The first “Star Wars” film since “The Rise of Skywalker” from 2019 is in the making and actress Daisy Ridley (30) will play the leading role. According to the industry magazine “Variety”, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy (69) confirmed this on Friday in London. The focus of the story will once again be Ridley’s character, Rey.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (44, “Ms. Marvel”) will direct the film. The screenplay was penned by Steven Knight (63, “Sneaky Blinders”). A start date has not yet been announced.
Lots of rumors about “Star Wars” future
This also makes it clear that the sequel trilogy will continue from 2015 to 2019. However, the plot is said to start 15 years after the last “Star Wars” film. Recently, rumors have been circulating that a new movie may not be added to the “Star Wars” universe.
Several projects were previously announced again and again, but then canceled again. However, the plans for the new “Star Wars” film with Daisy Ridley seem to have progressed so far that Lucasfilm and Disney consider a backwards role to be very unlikely.
