Shakira is releasing a new album in a few weeks. The singer describes working on the songs as an “alchemical process”.

Around seven years after her last album “El Dorado”, Shakira (47) is releasing a new record. “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” translated roughly as “Women Don’t Cry Anymore,” is scheduled to appear in just a few weeks, on March 22nd. The title and accompanying words of the Colombian singer indicate that with the new album she is probably separating from her former partner Gerard Piqué (37) processed.

On The 47-year-old shares four pictures on Instagram about the new album – the cover variants “Diamond”, “Ruby”, “Sapphire” and “Emerald”, which can already be pre-ordered in the shop on their homepage. Their twelfth studio album contains eight new songs and a remix in addition to seven already known songs. These include the collaboration “BZRP Music Sessions #53” with DJ and producer Bizarrap (25), released in January 2023, which is now on YouTube to more than 690 million views.

Shakira: Vulnerability became strength

In the attached Instagram comment, Shakira explains that the album was created in collaboration with her fans, her pack of wolves who accompanied her every step of the way. The creation of the songs was like “an alchemical process”: “As I wrote, I rebuilt myself. As I sang, my tears turned into diamonds and my vulnerability into strength.”

Shakira and Piqué met while filming the 2010 music video for the song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”. They got together a little later and were long considered one of the power couples in the sports and entertainment world. Their son Milan was born in 2013, and their second son Sasha was born in 2015. In the summer of 2022, Shakira and Piqué publicly ended their relationship. In “BZRP Music Sessions #53” she later turned to her ex and his new partner Clara Chia Marti. “You swapped a Ferrari for a Twingo. You swapped a Rolex for a Casio,” Shakira sings, among other things.
