New iPhones expected: Apple announces event for September 12th

CUPERTINO (dpa-AFX) – Apple is expected to present its next iPhone models in two weeks. The company hosted a novelty event on September 12 at its headquarters in Cupertino on Tuesday. At the September events, the next generation of the Apple Watch computer clock is traditionally presented in addition to the new iPhones. Apple itself traditionally keeps a low profile on what to expect until the very end.

The iPhone is by far the group’s most important product and brings in more than half of the proceeds. Recently, Apple was no longer able to resist the general downturn in the smartphone market: According to calculations by the analysis company IDC, a good six percent fewer iPhones were sold in the second quarter than a year earlier. However, sales fell by only around 2.4 percent – which indicates that Apple is managing to sell more expensive models.

According to information from the financial service Bloomberg, Apple wants to score points with the more expensive model iPhone 15 Pro this year, among other things with faster chips and thinner edges around the screen. With the large Pro Max model, the zoom function of the camera should also be significantly improved. All iPhones should therefore switch to the USB-C standard for the charging socket instead of Apple’s own “Lightning” format. The change is based on an EU requirement./so/DP/jha
