New indictments for corruption in the affair of the mayor and the clairvoyant

Two new people have been indicted in the affair of the clairvoyant and the mayor of Agde. It concerns a father and his son, managers of an SCI and a hypermarket in Agde, likely to have financed part of the work on the “clairvoyant’s” house.

The two men are being prosecuted for active corruption, misuse of corporate assets to the detriment of the hypermarket and breach of trust to the detriment of the SCI. They were placed under judicial supervision. According to Free Midday, they are suspected of having participated in the financing of the clairvoyant’s professional premises, at the request of the mayor. The latter would have presented them as a donation for a “mother of large family who helps people”, according to the regional daily.

Mayor’s support for a hypermarket extension project

They would, however, refute any quid pro quo. In particular the mayor’s support for the extension of the hypermarket. A project for which Mayor Gilles d’Ettore had issued a building permit in 2022, explains Free Middaybut which was opposed by the national departmental planning commission, despite the support of the mayor.

In this same case, the investigating chamber of the Montpellier Court of Appeal released the senior regional executive of the Eiffage company. In addition to paying a bail of 50,000 euros, he will have to follow strict judicial supervision. He was placed in pre-trial detention on March 30 after his indictment on charges of misuse of corporate assets and active corruption.
