Around a month after the state elections, the SPD and the Greens in Lower Saxony signed their coalition agreement in Hanover today.

Stephan Weil (SPD) is to be elected Prime Minister for the third time in the state parliament tomorrow. He has ruled the country since 2013. Weil and the new parliamentary group leader Grant Hendrik Tonne signed the contract for the SPD. The top candidate Julia Willie Hamburg and the two state chairmen Anne Kura and Hans-Joachim Janßen signed for the Greens.

For the second time red-green under Weil

At the weekend, the SPD and the Greens accepted the coalition agreement at special party conferences. Prime Minister Weil had already governed in his first term from 2013 to 2017 together with the Greens. This was followed by a grand coalition with the CDU.
