New classic cars: These cars are now allowed to carry the H license plate

When you think of classic cars, shiny black metal, sweeping shapes, whitewall tires and more come to mind. It has long been the turn of models that you can still often see on the street and with which you grew up.

The Nissan Micra is such an example: it was introduced back in the 1980s. In 1992 the second generation came onto the market, in the form factor of a Mini or Fiat 500, but thanks to the rectangular design it was still quite spacious on the inside. The first models have been allowed to carry the H license plate since this year.

Also in the series: the VW Vento, the notchback sedan of the Golf. If you don’t know it by that name: it was previously called Jetta, then Bora. What remained: Thanks to its large trunk, it was sold in large numbers by Volkswagen and stayed on the side of the road for a long time.

Farther away from plain home cooking, there are also a few models that will become vintage cars in 2022: The Hummer H1, for example, which looks timeless anyway and is based on the HMMWV that has been built for the US military since 1985. Or sportier: The Dodge Viper and the Jaguar XJ220 with their very own interpretations of a sports car from the 90s. The latter could not convince the buyers and is a real rarity today, but the lucky owners can look forward to the H license plate.

The same applies to the exotic Maserati Ghibli: With its extravagant design, it only managed a number of just over 2,000 models and is therefore rarely on the road.

The 3-series BMW in the E36 model series was introduced and built earlier, but a special variant was added: the M3 was the sporty top model of the series with 286 hp.
