Anyone who buys a new car will receive more information from the dealer from May 1st. The car label introduced in 2011, which contains information on fuel efficiency in the familiar colored bars, has been reformed. According to the ADAC, information on fuel or electricity consumption and CO2 emissions is becoming more transparent.
In addition to the “combined” fuel and electricity consumption, additional information is also provided on energy consumption in the “city center”, on the “outskirts”, on the “country road” and the “motorway”. For electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, the Electric range stated in kilometers.
Weight no longer plays a role
The methodology for the CO2 color scale is also changing: As before, a car is divided from A (green) to G (red), but the scale is now only based on absolute CO2 emissions. The previous classification also took vehicle weight into account, which often gave heavier vehicles a better CO2 class.
Possible CO2 costs are shown
In addition to the vehicle tax and the energy costs per year, the possible CO2 costs over the next ten years are now also shown. The increasing CO2 price of fossil fuels is a significant cost factor in the long term. Since their future development is uncertain, the calculation is based on three possible average CO2 prices.
