It was an evening of premieres and a positive atmosphere: At the New Year’s reception in the auditorium of the Neubiberg elementary school on Saturday, the around 300 guests could tell how they enjoyed being able to be together again without masks and distance after all the restrictions caused by the pandemic . Host Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU), who, after almost three years in office, organized the event for the first time because it could not take place beforehand due to Corona, was delighted: “It is a special honor for me to guide you through the evening”. , he said.
In his speech, he sounded more thoughtful, but as is known from him, also optimistic tones. So he said that you are in a “permanent crisis mode”. After the pandemic, the war in Ukraine followed, then the energy crisis. At the same time, he pointed out that there was also a lot of positive news: for example, that more and more people in the world could read and write, that child mortality was decreasing – and in Neubiberg itself the large town hall expansion project, which had been preceded by many discussions, was progressing.
Many deserving citizens were honored by Mayor Pardeller.

The people who were honored with medals that evening also contributed to the positive atmosphere: Yang Liu, who became Bavarian champion in table tennis for over 65s in 2022, received the bronze medal of honor. When asked by the mayor whether he had exercised a lot during the pandemic, he replied dryly: Yes, but most importantly he lost weight – 15 kilos. Paola Breda, who had already received an award from the Bavarian Ministry of Science for her outstanding doctorate on space propulsion at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Neubiberg, was also honored. Michael Jäger, who has been Vice President of the Taxpayers’ Association for many years and has been active in committees such as the East-West Economic Forum, as well as the environmental initiative “Neubiberg for future” were also honored.
The guests also experienced a premiere with the “Unterbiberger Hofmusik”, which framed the evening with their unique brass music full of international influences. The piece “Die Ruhe daheim”, a composition by the youngest son Franz, was performed publicly for the first time by the family of musicians.
