In the parking lot of the Bundeswehr University on Zwergerstraße in Neubiberg, two cars went up in flames at around 1.30 a.m. on Saturday night. According to the fire brigade operations center, one was a hybrid vehicle. According to operations manager Andreas Baumann from the Unterbiberg fire brigade, the two cars were fully engulfed in flames when the fire crews arrived.
The fires were quickly extinguished, but the Unterbiberg and Neubiberg fire brigades could not prevent the cars from being severely damaged. Since the two cars were at opposite ends of the parking lot, Baumann said it was “obvious and to be assumed” that arson was involved. Initially, no comment was available from the police.
