Barton Cowperthwaite was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The actor now shared this with his fans – and impressed with how he dealt with the diagnosis.
A larger audience will probably know dancer and actor Barton Cowperthwaite from the Netflix series “Your Last Solo” – but he is also quite present on social media and regularly gives insights into his life there. Actually, he usually shows his cheerful and humorous side, but now he shared serious news with his followers: Barton Cowperthwaite has a brain tumor.
He had published several photos on Instagram: In one he can be seen in a hospital gown, making a peace sign and smiling cautiously into the camera, the other two photos show scans of his brain. To see all the recordings, you have to click to the right on the Instagram post.
“So, yesterday they discovered a glioma, at least stage 2. It’s a brain tumor of quite a good size. The cells of the tumor come from the brain, so it’s not a cancer that came from somewhere spreads differently in the body,” he wrote.
The only treatment option is brain surgery, but doctors are confident “that they can remove most of it and that after a successful operation and some rehab I will be able to act like my amazing, talented, brilliant and funny self again.”
“You give people courage”
Despite the diagnosis, Barton Cowperthwaite remains optimistic and apparently hasn’t lost his sense of humor: “And you know what they say: ‘When life gives you lemons, make lemonade,'” he wrote, alluding to his tumor probably the size of a lemon.
This positive approach to his situation deeply impressed his fans. “Stay strong! You encourage people and are an inspiration,” wrote one user. “For still staying so positive. You’re my idol,” another agreed.
