“Netflix House”: Netflix is planning a “Netflix House” – Economy

Series fans will be able to immerse themselves even more in the world of their favorite shows in the future: The streaming service Netflix wants to sell fan articles and offer dishes based on shows in a “Netflix House”, among other things. Maybe there could even be a Squid Game obstacle course, based on the Netflix series of the same name. This is what Netflix manager Josh Simon said the financial service Bloomberg.

The whole thing should be a mixture of retail, gastronomy and live experiences. The streaming service plans to open the first two houses in the USA in 2025 and then expand the concept internationally. Netflix had previously experimented with limited-time experiences and pop-up shops in various cities, including around the hit series “Stranger Things”. The company also held a Bridgerton-style dance ball at several locations – an American series aimed at Londoners High society is based on the early 19th century. In Los Angeles, from the beginning of December, people will be able to take part in competitions based on the “Squid Game” series.

The Netflix House is intended to be a permanent location with changing exhibitions, said Simon. It would be the company’s first permanent location – and a sign of its growing investment in marketing its programs and building fan bases around them.

Media companies have been expanding their business into theme parks, costumes, toys and other consumer products for years. They want to advertise their characters and generate additional income. However, this business is comparatively new for Netflix – the company’s marketing efforts have often been criticized by film and television producers as inadequate. Management sees “Netflix House” more as a way to promote its titles than as a significant source of revenue – at least for now.
