nearly 6,000 ducklings die of asphyxiation in a fire in the Tarn

The fire of an agricultural building, the origin of which is not yet determined, resulted in the death of nearly 6,000 ducklings on Saturday. The fire broke out early in the morning in the town of Labessiere-Candeilabout twenty kilometers south-west of Albi, in the Tarn.

According to the departmental fire and rescue service, sixteen firefighters arrived on site shortly before 7 a.m. They were able to quickly bring the fire under control but were unable to save the ducklings.

The animals were found dead, suffocated by the smoke from the 400 m2 building in the grip of the flames. The police also came to the scene.
