A serious fire broke out during the night from Thursday to Friday in Nordheim, northwest of Strasbourg. The fire broke out in a farm including a 2,000 m² goat barn which housed around 700 animals.
Despite the 54 firefighters involved, not all of them could be saved but the fire was contained. In total, 379 died, reports the Bas-Rhin Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 67) in a press release. In addition, six people were evacuated from their homes nearby.
