Hours after a gunman set fire to several people in a suburb of Chicago, a suspect has been arrested. As reported by the US media, citing local police, a 22-year-old man was initially identified as a “person of interest”. Police officers later saw him in a car and picked him up after a short flight.
A gunman killed six people and injured dozens more at a US National Day parade. A doctor from a hospital near the Highland Park crime scene said the clinic treated 25 people aged eight to 85 with gunshot wounds, including several children.
A spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said it appeared the gunman fired indiscriminately from the roof of a commercial building at bystanders. A firearm found at the scene was a “powerful rifle.” Assault rifles are usually used for such bloody crimes in the USA.
